This new initiative focuses on <strong>ensuring equal access to school for all children<\/strong> , regardless of disability, origin or socioeconomic status. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Safe streets for all children<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>&#8220;Our roads must stop being danger zones,&#8221; said the Mayor of Athens, Haris Doukas. The aim is to <strong>enhance road safety<\/strong> around schools, with innovative infrastructure that does not require constant surveillance and acts <strong>preventively and universally<\/strong> , protecting <strong>all pedestrians<\/strong> , with particular care for children. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Technology at the service of equality<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>&#8220;Smart&#8221; crossings incorporate <strong>technological and physical features<\/strong> that ensure:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Greater visibility<\/strong> , critical for the safety of children with sensory or motor difficulties<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Limiting vehicle speeds<\/strong> , protecting particularly vulnerable groups<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Controlled and pedestrian-friendly environment<\/strong> , facilitating the movement of people with disabilities or parents with strollers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><strong>Inclusion in practice<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>The intervention enhances <strong>passive safety<\/strong> and works as part of a broader vision: a city where <strong>all students \u2013 without exclusions \u2013 can reach school safely and with dignity<\/strong> .
