The Municipality of Athens invites citizens to co-shape the new urban identity of the capital through the <strong>\u201c15 Minute Open Neighborhood\u201d<\/strong> program, which started on Thursday <strong>, July 10<\/strong> , at <strong>6:30 PM<\/strong> , from the <strong>Kypseli Municipal Market<\/strong> . <\/p>\n\n<p>The Mayor of Athens, <strong>Haris Doukas<\/strong> , emphasizes: <strong>&#8220;The &#8220;15-minute Open Neighborhood&#8221; is coming to Athens, breathing new life into the urban fabric of our city. We want every resident \u2014 regardless of age, ability or social status \u2014 to have everything they need nearby: education, health, greenery, culture. Everything within 15 minutes, without the need for a car. With the participation of citizens, we CHANGE the city.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>The program is based on <strong>open participation<\/strong> and <strong>pluralism<\/strong> , aiming to capture needs from all communities of the city. Through <strong>consultations<\/strong> and <strong>participatory workshops<\/strong> in all <strong>7 Municipal Communities<\/strong> , residents are invited to map their neighborhood, express ideas and propose solutions for a more functional and <strong>inclusive everyday life<\/strong> . <\/p>\n\n<p>The Deputy Mayor for Urban Revitalization and Resilience, <strong>Maro Evangelidou<\/strong> , explains: <strong>\u201cThe \u201c15-Minute Open Neighborhood\u201d is a new urban concept. Using digital tools, highly effective interventions will be proposed, such as pedestrian crossings, widenings and improvements for people with disabilities. We are creating a priority framework for the accessibility and sustainability of public space.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Why &#8220;15 Minute Open Neighborhood&#8221;?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>It is a neighborhood in which <strong>every citizen<\/strong> , regardless of their identity, capabilities or needs, can have easy, safe and equal access to basic goods and services.
