Independent living is not a luxury. It is a right. With this vision, the new pilot program “Accessibility at Home” is being implemented, totaling 24 million euros , financed by the Recovery and Resilience Fund through the National Plan “Greece 2.0”.
In a joint press release by the Ministries of Social Cohesion and Family, National Economy and Finance, Environment and Energy, Labor and Social Security and Digital Governance , this is a program that effectively enhances the accessibility of the home and professional space of 2,500 people with motor and/or sensory disabilities. The goal is to effectively support everyday life, eliminate obstacles and enhance active participation in social and professional life.
Beneficiaries will be able to receive a grant of up to 14,500 euros for targeted interventions in the places where they live or work, such as ramps, elevators, automation, accessibility equipment, as well as for technical support from an engineer. The interventions can be made in the main or secondary residence, even in a rented property with the consent of the owner, but also in professional spaces or common areas of apartment buildings.
People with a disability of over 67%, who legally reside in Greece and have an individual income of up to 60,000 euros are eligible to participate.
Applications will be submitted through a special digital platform, with a simple and transparent process. The relevant Call for Expression of Interest will be announced soon.
This program is not just a financial boost. It is a powerful message that our society can become truly accessible, fair and inclusive – with equal opportunities and dignity for all.
