Together We Shine: Inclusion in Action Across Cyprus

At Diversity Charter Cyprus, we continue to see inspiring examples of how Cypriot organizations are bringing diversity and inclusion to life. From corporate initiatives to youth engagement and community partnerships, inclusion is becoming an integral part of our shared culture.

Inclusive Language in the Workplace

Several companies participated in the recent Training & Mentorship Programme, where participants explored how to use more inclusive and gender-neutral language in everyday communication.

Even small shifts in wording can make a big difference in how welcome and respected people feel at work.

Following this initiative, one of the participating companies asked us to develop a tailored Inclusive Language Guide for internal use — a clear sign of genuine commitment to fostering equality and belonging through mindful communication.

Mental Health as a Pillar of Sustainability

There is also a growing focus on mental health in the workplace. During the Diversity Forum 2025, organized by Diversity Charter Cyprus and CSI, we discussed how employee well-being can be effectively integrated into ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) strategies.

This shows that mental health is no longer viewed as an optional benefit but as a core component of responsible and sustainable organizational culture.
Since the forum, many companies have reached out to request workshops and training sessions on this important topic — a strong indicator of progress and growing awareness.

Inclusion Among Young People

Inclusion starts early — and young people are leading by example. Later this month, The Grammar School will host its inspiring event “Together We Shine – Be You-tiful”, celebrating self-expression, individuality, and acceptance.

This initiative reminds us how vital it is to create environments where young people feel empowered, confident, and proud of who they are.

New Signatories Join the Charter

We are proud to welcome new organizations to the Diversity Charter Cyprus network.
Major employers across Cyprus have officially signed the Charter, reaffirming their commitment to equal opportunities, inclusive policies, and safe, respectful workplaces for all employees.

Genius Ball: Football Meets Inclusion

In an exciting collaboration, Diversity Charter Cyprus partnered with Genius Ball to promote inclusion through football.
This initiative uses sport as a universal language to bring people of all abilities and backgrounds together, breaking down barriers and showcasing the power of teamwork, respect, and shared joy.

It reflects our belief that inclusion can thrive not only in workplaces and schools but also on the field, where everyone deserves the chance to play, belong, and shine.

Collaboration with the Gender Equality Committee

We are also pleased to highlight our collaboration with the Gender Equality Committee, chaired by Eleni Kouzoupi.
The Committee’s main goal is to raise awareness and provide information on gender equality in both employment and vocational education. It also examines complaints and reports on its own initiative and provides legal assistance to those who need it.

Through its work, the Committee ensures that gender equality is not only promoted but also actively safeguarded, supporting individuals and organizations in building fair and inclusive environments.

Looking Ahead

As we continue our efforts, we look forward to expanding collaborations across sectors and countries within the JUST EU Diversity Charters network.

Together, we are building workplaces — and communities — where diversity is valued, inclusion is lived, and equality is the norm.
