At the same time, however, we are also living in an era of multiple crises, which negatively affect even the most vulnerable social groups, who have always faced and continue to face a wide range of stereotypes, prejudices, harassment, discrimination and violence, as well as limited access to work, social welfare, insurance, healthcare and education, while extreme poverty and housing conditions in many of them are at particularly high levels.

The Municipalities of our country have the duty to fight and stand with absolute respect, responsibility, sensitivity and empathy, not alongside, but together with every one of our fellow citizens who belong to the most vulnerable social groups, who are called upon to face many and multiple challenges in their daily lives.

In this fight, Diversity Charter Greece [1] could not fail to stand by the Municipal Authorities.

The Diversity Charter of Greece*, with a vision of true equality and inclusion, is organizing the 1st Diversity Conference for Local Government! [2]

1st Diversity In Cities Conference 2025

Wednesday, February 26, 2025 | Technopolis of the Municipality of Athens

The Diversity In Cities” Conference aims to be an important reference point for the creation of strategies to strengthen the integration of diversity in local communities, as well as in Local Government Organizations.

At the same time, it aims to highlight best practices for promoting diversity in local government, to provide tools and knowledge for the development and implementation of diversity integration strategies, as well as to create a forum for cooperation and dialogue between local authorities and citizens.

The 1st Diversity Conference for Local Government seeks to contribute to an even better understanding and awareness of the benefits of a more inclusive society, with Local Government Organizations as a central pillar. [3]

We need sustainable, resilient, safe, creative and inclusive municipalities. Where we will live harmoniously together, without exclusion, without discrimination, without asterisks! And we must do this together, by further strengthening collaborations, synergies and networking!!!

*The Diversity Charter is an initiative of the European Commission that aims to promote diversity and equal opportunities in Greek businesses, institutions and organizations. It was established in Greece in 2019 and its aim is to be a commitment tool for businesses, institutions and organizations, encouraging the adoption of practices that promote equality and respect for diversity in every work environment.
