An important step toward strengthening diversity and inclusion in the academic environment was taken with the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family.
The agreement aims to promote equality, foster a culture of respect, and protect human rights within university campuses. Through joint actions and initiatives, the two organizations seek to create an environment where every individual feels safe, accepted, and free from discrimination and harassment.
In a statement, Deputy Minister of Social Cohesion and Family Elena Rapti emphasized that “cooperation between the State and the academic community is a fundamental prerequisite for promoting equality and inclusion, contributing to the formation of a modern and just society.”
This collaboration highlights the importance of partnership between the government and the academic community for the meaningful integration of the principles of inclusion into education. At the same time, it reinforces the role of universities as spaces that not only impart knowledge but also shape social values, such as respect for diversity and equal participation.
This is an initiative that aims to contribute to the creation of a more just and modern society, starting from the very core of education.
