The event was an open celebration for the city, where students from special education programs took center stage, showcasing their Easter creations and spreading smiles, inspiration, and optimism.

The following participated in the Bazaar:

  • the Special Elementary School for Children with Autism

  • The 2nd Special Vocational High School of Piraeus “Anoixi”
  • the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Through their creations, the students demonstrated that expression, art, and creativity know no bounds, but rather serve as bridges of communication and acceptance.

Attended by representatives of the State and local government

The mayor toured the booths, spoke with students, teachers, and parents, and selected gifts from the children’s handmade creations, thereby actively supporting their efforts.

The event was a charity fundraiser aimed at supporting special education schools and highlighting the valuable work they do in the areas of education and social inclusion.

Statements focusing on inclusion.

The Mayor of Piraeus, Yannis Moralis, stated: “The 1st Easter Bazaar of the Special Schools of Piraeus was a celebration that demonstrated the power of creativity, participation, and social solidarity. The children had the opportunity to showcase their creations and share their joy with parents, teachers, and visitors.

As the municipal government, we have always stood by and supported the city’s special education schools over the past twelve years, because we believe they are pillars of education, social inclusion, and culture.

We will continue to stand by them, just as we have done all these years, with consistency and dedication, so that the Special Schools of Piraeus remain places of creativity, inspiration, and joy.

“Congratulations to all the children for their imagination and enthusiasm, to the teachers for their tireless work, and to the parents for their support.”

For his part, Yiannis Hatzialexis, the Municipal Councilor for Culture, stated: “The 1st Easter Bazaar of Piraeus Special Schools was met with a large turnout, confirming in practice that Piraeus is an inclusive city that supports children and their families, as well as special education institutions.”

I am particularly delighted and moved that the Piraeus Municipal Theater, a historic cultural venue for our city, is hosting events that showcase the talent, creativity, and uniqueness of children from special education schools.

Following the 1st Special Schools Christmas Bazaar, we are laying the groundwork for this initiative to become an institution of social solidarity for Piraeus, with the steadfast support of Piraeus Mayor Yannis Moralis.

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of this event, as well as to the staff of the Piraeus Municipal Theater, the Department of Management and Operation of Municipal Theaters, Cinemas, and Cultural Centers, and the Head of the Department, Ms. Fotini Moutesidou, for the excellent organization.

The 1st Easter Bazaar was not just a festive event. It was a powerful reminder that society becomes more just when it makes room for everyone.
