The Municipality of Piraeus sent a powerful message of love, care, and meaningful inclusion again this year by offering Easter gifts to the students of the city’s Special Schools.

As part of this established initiative, 500 Easter candles, 500 chocolate eggs, and 500 traditional Easter breads were distributed, with the aim of ensuring that all children experience the joy of the Easter holidays with equality and dignity. The initiative was carried out with the support of the Piraeus Municipal Public Benefit Enterprise (KODEP), reaffirming the city’s steadfast commitment to socially responsible policies.

The Mayor of Piraeus, Yannis Moralis, together with the President of KODEP, Yannis Voidonikolas, and the Municipal Councilor for Education and Lifelong Learning, D.E.P., Yiannis Voidonikolas, and the Municipal Councilor for Education and Lifelong Learning, Hari Zilakou, visited the 2nd Special Elementary School of Piraeus and the E.E.E.E.K. in Piraeus, offering gifts and conversing with students, teachers, and staff.

Their presence was not merely symbolic; it actively highlighted the importance of ongoing support for Special Schools and their families. The teachers, who carry out particularly important work every day, received warm congratulations for their dedication and service.

In a statement, the Mayor of Piraeus emphasized that this initiative has been a consistent priority for the municipal administration over the past 12 years, highlighting the role of special education schools as pillars of support for children and their families. He also stressed that promoting inclusion and equality remains a core pillar of the Municipality’s policies, with the goal of creating a society that leaves no one behind.

For his part, the President of KODEP noted that such initiatives, though seemingly simple, contribute substantially to shaping a city that respects diversity and responds to the needs of all its citizens.

The event was also attended by representatives of the state and local government, reinforcing the message that inclusion is a collective responsibility.

The Municipality of Piraeus continues to invest in socially oriented initiatives, demonstrating in practice that diversity is not merely a concept, but a value cultivated daily through meaningful actions.
