Strong Me, the movement for the prevention and combating of gender-based violence and an active member of the “Initiative Against Femicide,” is joining the Initiative’s call on Tuesday, June 9, at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier in Syntagma, in response to the femicide of Vasiliki in Kalamata.
Strong me and INDAK Company invite the public to participate in a live installation titled “AM I SAFE?” by wearing a black T-shirt and stepping into the circle of action. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m., with the meeting point being the steps of the Syntagma metro station.
This call is directed at everyone, with the aim of encouraging active participation and public advocacy against gender-based violence. The message of the action is a clear stance against violence against women and impunity, as well as a refusal to remain silent and to normalize such phenomena.
Gender-based violence is not just a women’s issue. Women and men have an equally crucial role to play in addressing it, as everyone’s involvement constitutes a meaningful social stance and commitment to a society of equality, safety, social justice, and respect for human rights, where no woman will live in fear or abuse.
Strong Me continues its campaign to have femicide included in the Penal Code and is promoting a resolution to that effect:
