It is with great pleasure that we welcome the Municipality of Agios Dimitrios to the Diversity Charter (Diversity Charter Greece), marking yet another significant step toward strengthening equality, inclusion, and respect for diversity in local government.
By signing the Charter, the Municipality of Agios Dimitrios actively reaffirms its commitment to promoting policies and actions that strengthen equal opportunities and inclusion, actively contributing to the creation of an open, accessible, and inclusive society for every citizen.
The Diversity Charter was signed by the Mayor of Agios Dimitrios, Mr. Stelios Mamalakis, and the Deputy Mayor for Equality, Gender Policies, People with Disabilities, and Volunteering, Ms. Vasiliki Vazaiou, sealing the Municipality’s commitment to implementing actions and initiatives that promote equality, diversity, and inclusion both in the workplace and more broadly in social life.
The Diversity Charter is a European Commission initiative to promote diversity in workplaces and organizations, and has been implemented in Greece since 2019. Greece is the 23rd country to join this European initiative, which aims to serve as a commitment tool for the implementation of equal opportunities and diversity in every workplace.
Local communities play a crucial role in promoting participation, acceptance, and human rights. In this context, the inclusion of the Municipality of Agios Dimitrios takes on particular significance, strengthening the role of local government in shaping a more just and inclusive environment for all.
