The Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, Domna Michailidou, visited Perama, accompanied by the city’s mayor, Yiannis Lagoudakos, highlighting in practice the importance of social policy in terms of inclusion.

The visit began at the Perama Senior Citizens’ Center, where emphasis was placed on the “Digital Empowerment” program, an initiative that promotes the equal participation of older adults and people with disabilities in the digital age. Through training in basic digital skills and the use of services such as gov.gr, participants gain greater autonomy and access to services that were previously difficult or inaccessible.

The Minister then visited the site where a new daycare center will be built, a project with a significant social impact on the local community. In a densely populated municipality like Perama, strengthening childcare facilities is a key pillar of inclusion, as it provides essential support to families and facilitates equal access for parents to work and daily life.

“Social policy must embrace every citizen, without exception. From empowering the elderly to caring for children, the goal is a society that is more accessible and fair for everyone,” said Domna Michailidou.

The visit highlighted that inclusion is not merely a concept, but a continuous effort to implement policies that address the real needs of every local community.
